Justice Vaidyanathapuram Rama Iyer Krishna Iyer was an Indian judge and minister who reformed The Indian criminal justice system . He  stood for the poor and under privileged.He remained a human-rights champion, a crusader for social justice and the environment and a doyen of civil liberties ,through out life .He was conferred with the Padma Vibhooshan in 1999.Russia had conferred on him the honour 'The Order of Friendship',the highest civilian award for a foreigner.

         Krishna Iyer had made several land mark judgements ,which later become beacons of the judicial system. He had been instrumental in infusing hope for justice in the minds of people through his ingenious and imaginative verdicts.

         As the law minister, Iyer had been instrumental behind bringing in several revolutionary people-centric steps in ensuring justice and free legal aid to the poor. The initial jail reforms incorporating the right of prisoners. He started more courts for speedy justice.

         His post retirement life was dedicated for common man's rights. He was not just known to be bench and the bar. He raised the sane, impartial  arudite  voice on every issue affecting society. His house at cochin was open for all poor and victimized sections in the society. He had been considered as a last resort for those who had been denied justice.

         Iyer had an active life delivering power-pact speeches about the values and virtues of life and bring out prolific writings on  various topics .He  wrote about 70-100 books mostly on law. He was a rare personality who was loved and respected by all. .He  had won  the hearts of everyone by truthfulness, love, empathy and humanity. He worked whole heartedly to transform the people-the world.
